Uttar Pradesh: Farmers demand sugarcane price hike for new crushing season

Saharanpur: Farmers affiliated with the Kisan Nyay Morcha have urged the state government to announce sugarcane prices of Rs. 450 per quintal before sugar mills start crushing season, reported Live Hindustan.

They have also demanded an end to irregularities in the registration of land shares in revenue records.

On Friday, under the leadership of farmer leader Ranveer Singh (Advocate), the farmers submitted a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath through Tehsildar Pushpankar Dev. In the memorandum, the farmers called for the price of early-variety sugarcane to be set at Rs. 450 per quintal and regular-variety sugarcane at Rs. 440 per quintal before the mills begin operations.

The memorandum also requested an investigation into the activities of farmers and revenue officials and demanded legal action against those found guilty. Present during the submission of the memorandum were Surendra Kumar, Sher Singh, Ilam Chand, Joginder, Sagar, Satish Goyal, and Suraj Chauhan, among others.
