Meerut, Uttar Pradesh: Kinauni sugar mill has not yet paid the outstanding dues from the last sugarcane crushing season, leading the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) to announce a protest, reported Live Hindustan.
According to BKU District President Anurag Chaudhary, the mill still owes one month’s worth of payments from the previous season. He stated that the mill has failed to fulfil its promise to clear the full payment to farmers. As a result, farmers are preparing to launch a protest. The matter has also been brought to the attention of the District Magistrate.
In addition, Chaudhary raised concerns about the unavailability of DAP fertilizer for farmers in the district. He pointed out that potato farmers urgently need DAP, but it is not being supplied to them. However, District Agriculture Officer Rajeev Kumar has refuted the claim, stating that there is no shortage of DAP in the district.
