Having established industrial units, hotels, hospitals, airports, dedicated freight corridors, metro rail lines, stations, data centers, and power transmission lines, Tata Projects Limited, a leading EPC contractor primarily owned by Tata Sons, is now focusing on developing green hydrogen and green ammonia units as part of its future expansion strategy.
“Sustainability is a crucial aspect for us, and we anticipate that many opportunities will arise in new sectors along this sustainability journey,” said Vinayak Pai, MD & CEO of Tata Projects, in an interview with The Hindu.
He noted, “Green hydrogen and green ammonia are areas that I believe will see significant acceleration in the coming years. India is well-positioned due to its high percentage of renewable energy generation, mainly solar. This power can be harnessed to produce hydrogen or ammonia, which can then be stored and transported.”
The company is exploring opportunities in sustainable aviation fuel, biofuels, for which it can construct biomass reactors for clients.
Beyond seizing growth opportunities, the company is enhancing its capabilities to execute projects more predictably in terms of cost and timeline.
“Our focus is on becoming the best at project delivery, which is why we emphasize predictable outcomes,” Pai explained.
He added, “Currently, predictability regarding time, cost, safety, and quality is lacking, not just in India but globally. This presents a significant opportunity for better planning and more reliable project execution. If we achieve that, we will be in demand worldwide.”
