Hapur, Uttar Pradesh – Both sugar mills in Hapur district have yet to settle outstanding payments from the previous crushing season, despite announcing the start of the new season on November 6. Farmers in the district are urging the mills to clear the pending cane dues, reported by Amar Ujala.
In the region, sugarcane farming is widespread, with local farmers supplying cane to mills in Simbhaoli, Brijnathpur, Modinagar, Nanglamal, and Bulandshahr. However, farmers assert that both sugar mills in Hapur have failed to fulfill their payment obligations.
The Sugarcane Department may issue notices to the mills if they fail to clear the pending cane dues. Additionally, both sugar mills have communicated with the Sugarcane Department regarding their operational plans for November 6. The department is also taking measures to ensure that the mills resolve the outstanding cane payments promptly.
