Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane transporting vehicles must have reflectors, says DM

Moradabad: Vehicles transporting sugarcane must have reflectors to prevent accidents, said District Magistrate Anuj Singh in a meeting with officials from sugar mills, transport department, cane department, and the Public Works Department. The meeting, held on Wednesday at the Collectorate, emphasized the timely operation of sugar mills and ensuring facilities for farmers at cane centres, mill gates, and external purchase centres, reports Live Hindustan.

District Magistrate Singh stressed the importance of following tagging orders and instructed that all vehicles involved in cane transport—such as trucks, trailers, and tractor trolleys—must be equipped with reflective tapes and radium strips.

Singh asked mill representatives to start operations on scheduled dates and ensure daily cane purchases at all purchase centres as per the indents. He directed that all vehicles used for cane transport should display a standard red cloth with radium strips. Additionally, he called for arrangements at mill gates and purchase centres to provide drinking water, seating, tin sheds, toilets, bonfires, and water troughs for animals.

The meeting was attended by the Superintendent of Police (Traffic), the Executive Engineer from the Public Works Department, officials from the Provincial and Construction Division, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer, the District Panchayat Raj Officer, Assistant Sugar Commissioner Salok Patel, and District Cane Officer Ram Kishan.
