Uttar Pradesh: Cane department warns farmers against supplying sugarcane to mills in Bihar

Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh: District Sugarcane Officer Dilip Kumar Saini has appealed to the farmers in the district to supply sugarcane only to the mills allotted by the Sugarcane Commissioner, Uttar Pradesh. If any farmer supplies sugarcane to a mill in Bihar, the Sugarcane Department will take strict action against them, reported Live Hindustan.

Saini informed that the Ramkola sugar mill in the district started its crushing operations on November 13, while the Dhadha Buzurg (Hata) mill will begin its crushing operations on November 17. These mills have already issued supply slips based on the indent submitted by cane societies. Additionally, other mills in the district, including Khadda and Seorahi, will begin their crushing operations soon.

The District Cane Officer appealed to farmers not to supply their sugarcane to any other sugar mills or mills in Bihar under any circumstances. He warned that if any farmer is found supplying cane to unauthorized mills, or mills outside the designated areas, strict action will be taken against both the farmer and the concerned mill.

He further cautioned farmers not to engage with middlemen or sugarcane mafias. Sugarcane must be supplied only through registered cane societies or mills, and farmers must ensure they use valid slips issued through SMS notifications on their registered mobile numbers.

The District Cane Officer emphasised that adhering to the proper supply channels is crucial for the smooth functioning of the sugar industry and for avoiding legal consequences.
