Domestic Market

Domestic sugar prices continued to show signs of weakness.

Domestic sugar prices in the major markets are showing signs of weakness. Trading activity was reported to be slow, and demand was said to be low, with buyers preferring low rates.

S-grade sugar in Kolhapur costs Rs 3,370-3,450 per quintal, while M-grade sugar in Muzaffarnagar costs Rs 3,700-3,750. According to Agrimandi.live, Kolhapur S-grade sugar will cost between Rs 3,350 and Rs 3,450 per quintal in the near future.

In an announcement on November 26, the Food Ministry allocated a monthly sugar quota of 22 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) for December 2024, which is lower than the quantity allocated in December 2023 (24 LMT). According to market experts, the government is taking steps to ensure stable sugar prices, but due to the new sugar season, sugar prices are expected to trade on the lower side.
