Sensex ends 502 points lower, Nifty nears 24,200

Indian benchmark indices ended lower on the third consecutive session on December 18.

Sensex ended 502.25 points lower at 80,182.20, whereas Nifty concluded 137.15 points down at 24,198.85.

Trent, Dr Reddy’s Labs, Cipla, Wipro and Bajaj Auto were top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Tata Motors, Bharat Electronics, Power Grid Corp, JSW Steel and NTPC.

Indian rupee ended at fresh record low at 84.95 per dollar on Wednesday versus Tuesday’s close of 84.90.

In the previous season, the Sensex plunged 1,064.12 points, to close at 80,684.45, while the Nifty fell by 332.25 points, settling at 24,336.00.
