Sangareddy: A major fire swept through sugarcane fields in Ippapally village, Mogudampally mandal, on Tuesday afternoon, destroying around 40 acres of crops ready for harvest, reported Telangana Today.
The affected farmers, including Pentappa, Subhash, Jaipal, MD Jabbar, Shafi, Jameer, Ameer, and Ashok Reddy, suffered losses estimated at Rs 1 crore. Despite their efforts to put out the flames by using water, the fire spread rapidly, leaving them no choice but to step back and watch as their months of hard work turned to ashes.
“There was nothing we could do to save our crops. The fire spread too fast, and by the time help arrived, it was all gone,” said one of the affected farmers.
Villagers have appealed to the State government for immediate assistance to support the farmers who lost their crops in the fire.
