Ukraine’s sugar production reached an estimated 1.8 million tonnes last year, according to data shared by the Ukrsugar National Association of Sugar Producers, reported UKRIFORM.
In a statement on Facebook, Ukrsugar reported that 28 member sugar plants produced 1.72 million tonnes of sugar during the 2024 refining season. An additional plant, not part of the association, contributed to the total, bringing the estimated national production to 1.8 million tonnes.
“An extra sugar plant was operational but is not included in our association. With its contribution, the total sugar production for 2024 is estimated at 1.8 million tonnes,” Ukrsugar noted.
This output matches Ukraine’s 2023 sugar production, which was recorded at 1.826 million tonnes.
Meanwhile, the association highlighted that 2024 was a remarkable year for sugar exports. Ukraine exported a record 746.3 thousand tonnes of sugar, generating USD 419 million in revenue.
