Anakapalli (Andhra Pradesh): District in-charge and Mines and Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra assured that the concerns regarding the Govada sugar factory will be brought to the notice of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, and necessary steps will be taken to address them promptly.
The minister, accompanied by MLA K.S.N. Raju and Joint Collector M. Jahnavi, visited the Chodavaram Cooperative Sugar Factory in Govada on Wednesday, where he held discussions with farmers and employees to understand the factory’s situation. During the meeting, Managing Director V. Sanyasi Naidu outlined the financial crisis facing the factory.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA K.S.N. Raju highlighted the sharp decline in sugarcane farming in the area, noting that the number of farmers cultivating sugarcane dropped.
The MLA further pointed out that all other cooperative sugar factories in the district had closed down, leaving the Govada Sugar Factory as the only functioning unit. He warned that without government intervention, it too could face closure.
Responding to the concerns, Minister Kollu Ravindra assured attendees that the issue would be brought before the state government and an improved action plan would be developed.
Necessary measures will be taken for the continuation of the sugar factory and support for the production of alternative products such as ethanol and biodiesel will be extended, the minister assured.
