Suva :The Ministry of Sugar announced that 61 sugarcane farmers have received government assistance as part of ongoing efforts to support the agricultural sector, reports The Fiji Times.
Of the recipients, 48 farmers were granted funds to start sugarcane farming, while 13 farmers received financial aid to renew their land leases. The Ministry emphasized that the Coalition Government remains committed to standing by Fiji’s sugarcane farmers and ensuring their success.
In a statement, the Ministry highlighted that the assistance provided to the 61 farmers represents a direct investment in the future of Fiji’s sugar industry. “The Coalition Government is delivering tangible support to farmers, giving them the tools and resources they need to succeed,” the Ministry said.
The statement also expressed confidence in the sector’s potential, adding, “With strong leadership, our farmers will prosper, and our economy will grow. We are dedicated to ensuring no one is left behind.”
