Bahawalpur: A review meeting of the Divisional Sugarcane Development Cess Committee was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Bahawalpur Division, Musarrat Jabeen, to assess ongoing and upcoming infrastructure projects, reports Associated Press of Pakistan.
The meeting, attended by Deputy Commissioner Rahim Yar Khan Khurram Parvez, Director of Development Bahawalpur, and officials from the agriculture and food departments, included representatives from various sugar mills and local farmers.
During the session, approval was granted for 74 road development projects in District Rahim Yar Khan, with an estimated cost of Rs 3 billion. These projects include 25 roads worth Rs 1 billion funded by JDW Sugar Mills, four projects costing Rs 420 million funded by Ittehad Sugar Mills, 12 roads estimated at Rs 640 million invested by Hamza Sugar Mills, 12 more roads worth Rs 420 million financed by Rahim Yar Khan Sugar Mills, and two projects valued at Rs 100 million backed by Chaudhry Sugar Mills. Additionally, 19 road projects, totalling Rs 580 million, were approved through savings funds.
Commissioner Musarrat Jabeen directed officials to ensure the timely completion of the projects and emphasized maintaining transparency through regular site inspections. She noted that the funds allocated by the Sugarcane Development Cess Committee would be instrumental in improving road infrastructure, facilitating smoother sugarcane transportation, and enhancing efficiency in delivery.
