Income Tax raids at MLA Rana Gurjeet Singh’s properties continue for second day

Kapurthala: Income tax officials continued their raids for the second consecutive day on Friday at the commercial and residential premises of Congress MLA Rana Gurjeet Singh in Kapurthala, reports Hindustan Times.

Singh’s family owns sugar and ethanol plants. They also recently acquired a sugar mill in Phagwara.

Simultaneous searches were also carried out at multiple locations, including Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and SAS Nagar.

The operation began on Thursday morning when IT teams arrived in Kapurthala with Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel stationed outside Singh’s residence. No one was allowed to leave the premises during the search.

Singh, who represents Kapurthala in the Punjab Assembly, previously served as a minister in the Congress-led government. His son, Rana Inder Partap Singh, is an Independent MLA from Sultanpur Lodhi.

According to news reports by Hindustan Times, officials have been examining financial documents, digital records, mobile phones, laptops, and other electronic devices at various locations.
