Kaithal: Dharmbir Singh Dagar, Chairman of Haryana Sugarfed, has stated that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, is continuously working for the welfare of sugarcane farmers. He assured that it will be ensured that farmers receive payment for their sugarcane crop within a week, reported Amar Ujala.
He made these remarks during an interaction with journalists at a private event in Kaithal on Monday. He highlighted that the Kaithal sugar mill is the oldest in the region and that farmers and employees have worked hard to make it successful. He noted that the government is providing farmers good price for sugarcane.
He stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to increasing farmers’ income manifold, and the government has taken several steps in this direction. Dagar also mentioned that the government has improved irrigation facilities in the state over the last 10 years. He urged mill employees and party officials to encourage old sugarcane farmers to reconnect with the mill and expand the sugarcane cultivation area. He also said that the government will provide farmers with high-yielding sugarcane varieties.
Dagar assured that the government will ensure that farmers do not face any problems at the mill. He said that the government and CM Nayab Singh Saini have taken many steps to address the issues of sugarcane farmers. He also mentioned that he has discussed with Cooperation Minister Arvind Sharma the possibility of providing more facilities to farmers. He added that work is underway to develop improved varieties of sugarcane that provide higher yields so that sugarcane farmers can increase their income.
