In a recent speech during the Budget Session, MLA Manisha Anuragi raised concerns about the problems faced by sugarcane farmers in her constituency. The MLA demanded the establishment of a sugar mill in the Rath and Charkhari regions to help address the challenges faced by local farmers.
Anuragi explained that both Raths and Charkhari are regions with abundant sugarcane production. She pointed out that nearly 50 years ago, there was a sugar mill in the town, which greatly benefited the sugarcane farmers. However, since the mill shut down, these farmers have been unable to receive fair compensation for their produce. With this in mind, the MLA called for the reopening of the sugar mill or the construction of a new one to support the local agricultural economy.
In addition, the MLA highlighted the need for a lift canal in the Muskara block, specifically for the hilly Bhitari area. She noted that more than 100 villages in the area are rain-fed and lack adequate irrigation facilities. The proposed lift canal would greatly benefit these villages and improve their agricultural output.
Furthermore, Anuragi proposed the establishment of a Women’s Degree College in Sarila. She emphasized that this college would provide much-needed educational opportunities for the girls in the region, ensuring their access to higher education and empowerment.
