Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh: In an initiative aimed at boosting maize production for ethanol industry, the Agriculture Department, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Maize Research, will facilitate the cultivation of hybrid maize varieties across 34 acres in the district. Seeds have been distributed to 34 farmers for this project, reported Amar Ujala.
Tushar Yadav, a researcher from the Indian Institute of Maize Research, distributed P-1899 hybrid maize seeds to the farmers. He also provided detailed information on irrigation, nutrient management, weed control, and post-harvest maize processing techniques for the spring season.
Dr. Avadhesh Mishra, the District Agriculture Officer, stated that this innovative initiative will directly benefit the farmers in the region. They are being directly connected with distillery industries for the sale of maize, eliminating the role of middlemen and brokers. This will create a significant opportunity for the future of maize production in the area. Deputy Director Mahendra Singh and Anand Kumar were also present during the event.
