Kairana, Uttar Pradesh: Kairana MLA Chaudhary Nahid Hasan has raised the concerns of sugarcane farmers in the state assembly, criticizing the Uttar Pradesh government’s budget not beneficial for farmers, reported Amar Ujala.
During his address, Hasan highlighted the pending dues of sugarcane farmers. He alleged that sugar mills are failing to pay farmers on time, causing significant financial distress.
Hasan also reminded the assembly that in 2023, the government had promised to waive electricity bills for farmers’ tube wells, but the commitment has yet to be fulfilled. He warned that if such condition of sugarcane farmers continues, they might be forced to abandon sugarcane cultivation and switch to other crops.
Commenting on the state budget, Hasan claimed that despite the government’s bold statements, its impact is not visible on the ground.
