In a key decision, the Uttarakhand Cabinet has decided to maintain the sugarcane prices at the same level as the previous crushing season. The government has set the price for early variety sugarcane at Rs. 375 per quintal and for the common variety at Rs. 365 per quintal for the ongoing 2024-25 crushing season.
The decision was made during a meeting of the state Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, on Monday.
Officials explained that the price of sugarcane purchased by cooperative, public, and private sector sugar mills during the crushing season is determined based on the recommendations of the state advisory committee.
Following the committee’s recommendations, the Cabinet has decided to retain the state-advised price of sugarcane for the current crushing season, in line with last year’s rates.
This decision aims to provide consistency for farmers and the sugar industry, with the government emphasizing that it is based on the advisory committee’s recommendations.
