Himachal Pradesh inks pact for India’s first integrated API, green hydrogen, and 2g ethanol facility

New Delhi: In a significant step toward boosting green energy and pharmaceutical manufacturing, the Himachal Pradesh government on Wednesday (March 5) signed a Memorandum of Commitment (MoC) with Chandigarh-based Spray Engineering Devices Ltd to establish India’s first integrated manufacturing facility for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), Green Hydrogen, and 2G Ethanol. The Rs 1,400 crore project will be set up in the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) region of Solan district and is expected to generate 1,000 jobs, reports The Business Standard.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who was present at the signing ceremony, reiterated the state’s commitment to becoming a ‘green energy’ state by March 2026. The project will initially require 30 MW of green hydrogen, with the demand projected to increase to 50 MW in the future. CM Sukhu urged the company to complete the facility within a year.

The MoC was signed by Yunus, Director of Industries, on behalf of the state government, and Vivek Verma, Managing Director of Spray Engineering Devices Ltd. Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan, MLA Sanjay Awasthy, and other senior officials were also present at the event.

This landmark project is expected to strengthen Himachal Pradesh’s position as a hub for sustainable industrial development while contributing to the nation’s green energy goals and pharmaceutical self-reliance.
