Uttrakhand : Awareness program for farmers on sugarcane cultivation in Kashipur

Kashipur: In an effort to boost sugarcane production, promote early variety sowing, and establish new research centers, the Nadehi Sugar Mill and the Sugarcane Farmers Institute in Kashipur organized an awareness program for farmers. Experts also provided guidance on pest control and advised farmers on using insecticides to protect their crops from diseases, reports Live Hindustan.

The farmer awareness session was held on Wednesday in Jagatpur Patti village, where scientists from the Sugarcane Research Center, Pantnagar—Dr. Siddharth Kashyap and Dr. Sanjay—along with District Cane Officer Kulshresth Phuleria and Nadehi Sugar Mill General Manager C.S. Imlal encouraged farmers to increase sugarcane production. They specifically advised against sowing the 0238 variety, which has been affected by red rot disease. Instead, they recommended planting eight early-maturing varieties, five general varieties, and three water-resistant varieties of sugarcane seeds.

The program was attended by trainers and local representatives, including Kapil Kumar, former block chief Ravi Dogra, Prem Sahota, Parvendra Thakur, Sheetal Singh, Manoj Kumar, Deepika, Tejpal Singh, Rakesh Singh, Surendra Singh, Pramod Dubey, and Vimal Kumar, among others.
