Andhra govt aims to attract Rs 10 lakh crore investment in renewable energy

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday called on MLAs to work towards installing 10,000 rooftop solar power units in each of their constituencies. Speaking in the Assembly, he encouraged legislators to raise awareness about solar energy and promote its benefits among the public to drive participation in the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, a central government initiative for solar power, reports The Week.

“Everyone has the potential to generate electricity, allowing people to become both producers and consumers while also selling surplus power back to the grid,” Naidu said, emphasizing the advantages of solar energy.

The TDP leader stressed the need for Andhra Pradesh to take an early lead in adopting solar power and set an ambitious goal of installing 20 lakh rooftop solar power units across the state by 2025.

Naidu also outlined the government’s broader renewable energy vision, stating that Andhra Pradesh aims to attract ₹10 lakh crore in investments to achieve 160 GW of green power. This will be accomplished through various sources, including solar, wind, pumped storage, and bio-energy.
