Domestic Market
Domestic sugar prices were reported as stable.
Despite the ISMA reducing sugar production to 26.5 MMT and the AISTA to 25.8 MMT, domestic sugar prices were reported stable across the centers due to weak demand. According to market participants, demand is muted despite the Holi and Ramadan months, following a price surge that began in mid-January and has weighed on prices.
According to reports, sugar for export is currently selling for around Rs 42,000 per MT, with some contracts at Rs 44,000 per MT. The most active contract values London whites at $535 per MT, while low-quality whites are priced at par up to $470 per MT.
M-grade sugar in Muzaffarnagar ranges from Rs 4,040 to Rs 4,060 per quintal, while S-grade sugar in Kolhapur costs between Rs 3,760 and Rs 3,820.
