Islamabad: Pakistan is working to deepen its industrial collaboration with Japan, with a particular focus on biogas, ethanol fuel integration, and electric vehicles (EVs), as part of its efforts to promote sustainable transportation, reports International The News
In a meeting held on Tuesday, Haroon Akhtar Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, discussed expanding automotive cooperation and investment opportunities with Pak Suzuki CEO Hiroshi Kawamura.
Khan highlighted Pakistan’s interest in joint industrial projects and commended Pak Suzuki’s plan to set up a biogas plant in Manga Mandi. He described the initiative as a significant step toward achieving Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s “Uraan” vision, which aims to promote eco-friendly transportation solutions.
“Pakistan is a promising market for Pak Suzuki and other Japanese companies,” Khan said, emphasizing the government’s focus on increasing the localization of auto parts manufacturing.
The discussions also included technical cooperation on making vehicles compatible with ethanol fuel, boosting the use of locally produced components, and exploring potential partnerships in electric vehicle projects. Both sides stressed the importance of leveraging clean energy solutions and technological innovation to strengthen trade and industrial ties between the two countries.
Kawamura congratulated Khan on his new role and reiterated Pak Suzuki’s commitment to enhancing economic and industrial relations between Pakistan and Japan.
