Sandamali Chandrasekara has been appointed as the new Chairperson of Lanka Sugar Company, following the resignation of her predecessor, Rukshan Gunathilaka. In addition, Deepika K. Gunaratne has taken over as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
The newly appointed Chairperson and CEO recently visited the Pelwatte and Sevanagala sugar factories, where they engaged with key officials, trade union representatives, employees, and farmers to better understand the operations and challenges faced by the company.
Meanwhile, buyers have been informed that the loading of brown sugar at the Pelwatte and Sevanagala sugar warehouses will be temporarily suspended from March 24 to April 2 due to an ongoing audit by the State Audit Department. The official notice, signed by Chairperson Sandamali Chandrasekara, assures stakeholders that loading operations will resume promptly once the audit process is completed.
