Shamli, Uttar Pradesh: A serious accident occurred at the sugar mill on Tuesday morning when a 140-ton spare roller, used for crushing sugarcane, fell during maintenance work. The incident happened as a worn-out iron cable snapped while the roller was being lowered with the help of a crane, causing the heavy equipment to crash down. Three workers were severely injured in the mishap, reported Live Hindustan.
The injured workers were repairing the faulty roller when the cable suddenly gave way. All three workers were caught under the falling roller, suffering injuries.
The accident triggered panic among other employees, who rushed to the site upon hearing cries for help. They quickly pulled the injured out from under the equipment and rushed them to a private hospital.
As per the news report, according to the mill management, the two critically injured workers remain under intensive care. General Manager of the sugar mill confirmed the incident and stated that all three injured workers were immediately admitted for treatment. “The mill will provide all necessary medical support for the injured,” he said.
