NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, shared the stage to discuss the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in agriculture and the sugar industry.
The discussion took place at the Sakhar Sankul (Sugar Complex) in Pune and lasted over 90 minutes. It was attended by officials from the Vasantdada Sugar Institute.
After the meeting, Ajit Pawar told the media that the topics included exploring how AI can enhance crop productivity, improve soil quality, and minimize the use of chemical fertilisers.
“We spoke about ways in which AI can boost agricultural yields, support soil health, and lessen reliance on chemical inputs. Companies like Microsoft are contributing to these efforts. The agriculture department also shared its ongoing initiatives, and strategies for improving sugar production were discussed,” he said.
As technology continues to transform traditional industries, the sugar sector is also embracing digital advancements. By using innovative medium like artificial intelligence (AI) and other modern technologies, many in the industry are taking steps to improve productivity, increasing recovery rates, and boosting incomes for farmers.
