Sensex ends 315 points lower, Nifty nears 24,250

Indian equity benchmarks ended on a negative note on April 24. The stock market witnessed decline today as geopolitical tensions weighed on investor sentiment. This comes after India took diplomatic measures against Pakistan in response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam in which 26 people were killed.

Sensex ended 315.06 points down at 79,801.43, whereas Nifty concluded 82.25 points lower at 24,246.70.

HUL, Bharti Airtel, Eicher Motors, ICICI Bank, Eternal were among major losers on the Nifty, while gainers were IndusInd Bank, UltraTech Cement, Grasim Industries, Tata Motors, Dr Reddy’s Labs.

In the previous season, Sensex ended 520.90 points up at 80,116.49, whereas Nifty concluded 161.70 points higher at 24,328.95.

Indian rupee ended 15 paise higher at 85.27 per dollar on Thursday versus Wednesday’s close of 85.42.
