Mumbai: Equity indices opened on a positive note today. BSE Sensex on 27th August 2019 was trading 123.95 points higher at 37,618.07 at 9:30 am. On the other hand, the NSE Nifty too surged 43.45 points at 11,101.30 in morning trade.
Tata Motors, SBI, Tata Steel, L&T, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance, IndusInd Bank and NTPC were among the top gainers rising up to 2 per cent.
HCL Tech, TCS, TechM, Kotak Bank and Asian Paints were among the top losers falling up to 2 per cent.
On the currency front, the Indian rupee appreciated 22 paise to 71.80 against the US dollar.
The global oil benchmark Brent crude futures were trading 0.53 per cent higher at 58.43 per barrel.
