Solapur: NCP’s leader Babanrao Shinde purchased Sugar mill owned by senior politician Vijaysinh Mohite-Patil by paying Rs 125 crore. The mill situated at Karkamb (taluka Pandharpur) was closed from last seven years and had a loan of Rs 183 crore of Solapur District Central Cooperative (DCC) bank.
Patil family had started the sugar mill by taking a loan from the DCC bank, but on the very first year, the sugar prices fell resulting in mill facing financial trouble which continued to increase for the next few years. The DCC bank had seized the mill and conducted the auction in which Shinde bought by bidding Rs 125 crore. Both Shinde and Mohite are the traditional opponent of each-other in Maharashtra politics.
