Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government is trying its best to attract tourists to boost the sector. After Pilgrimage tourism and eco-tourism, the government is planning to start sugar tourism in the largest sugar producing state.
The Yogi government has set up a seven-member committee to look after the idea and formulate a policy for this. This committee will submit its recommendations regarding the selection of sugar mills in UP, and the process of tourism. It will coordinate with concerned sugar mills and tourism department and will submit a report within a month. The committee comprises of experts in tourism as well as scientists and government officials.
Chief Secretary Sanjay Bhoosredddy said that UP is the largest sugar-producing state in the country and several sugar mills are technically upgraded and can be developed as tourist spots. Taking people to the mills will help them to learn the process of sugar making and will also help them to understand the process of ethanol making. The people are interested in these processes. This will boost tourism as well as the sugar sector in the state.
