Ladwa: The cane farmers in Haryana have raised the demand for increasing the cane purchase price to Rs 400 per quintal. The demand was made by Bhartiya Kissan Union. Ajit Singh, leader of the organisation, said, “The government should fix Rs 400 per quintal rate for cane farmers. The government should make all the sugar mills to start cane crushing by November 15, so that farmers can take another crop for cultivation.”
He also demanded that farmers should get their payments within 15 days of crushing. If the mill does not make the payment of the cane growers within 15 days, then the money should be paid with 15 per cent interest.
