Pune: Former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar has stated that there is a plan to purchase Sakharwadi sugar mill in Satara district to start new branch of Someshwar sugar mill and if this will not work, then will think to expand the capacity of Someshwar sugar mill.
He was speaking to farmers while inaugurating the sugarcane crushing season of the Someshwar mill.
“We will take help of Ramraje Naik-Nimbalkar and others for acquiring Sakharwadi sugar mill and to make the second unit of the mill. We will take the alternate route of expanding our mill if this will not work. We should now emphasize on production and export of raw sugar and ethanol production from B heavy Molasses,” he said.
“The farmers have suffered heavy losses due to heavy rainfall this year, and the assistance of Rs 8,000 per hectare declared by the government is not sufficient. The central government should provide assistance to the farmers, and we will meet the governor to put forward our demands to the central government,” Pawar further added.
