Crude oil futures rose by Rs 37 to Rs 4,627 per barrel today after participants widened their bets tracking a firming trend in Asia.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in September was trading higher by Rs 37, or 0.81 per cent, at Rs 4,627 per barrel with a business turnover of 44 lots.
The August contract also moved up by Rs 22, or 0.47 per cent, to Rs 4,721 per barrel with a business volume of 1,700 lots.
Marketmen attributed the rise in crude oil futures to raising of bets by participants in line with a firming trend overseas.
Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate crude prices for August delivery soared 0.13 per cent to trade at USD 68.33 a barrel while Brent crude was up 0.28 per cent at USD 72.78 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
