Mumbai: Sensex closed on January 28 at 188.26 points lower at 40,966.86. Similarly, Nifty ended 63.20 points down at 12,055.80.
Vedanta, Bharti Airtel, Tata Steel, Tata Motors and JSW Steel were among major losers on the Nifty, while gainers included BPCL, HDFC, Bajaj Finance, Sun Pharma and Bajaj Finserv.
Sensex closed on January 27 at 458.07 points lower at 41,155.12. Similarly, Nifty ended 129.25 points down at 12,119.00.
The rupee is trading at 71.309 against the dollar.
