Karnal: The Karnal cooperative sugar mill has become the first sugar mill in the state to start the lunch facility for farmers and labourers after cooperative minister Banwari Lal inaugurated the Atal Kisan and Mazdoor Canteen.
As per the procedure, the minister took coupon for Rs 10 and had a meal with district officials on the inauguration day of the canteen. The canteen will be run by the women of a self-help group attached to the Haryana Rural Ajivika Mission. The farmers will bear the cost of the meal amounting to Rs 10 and the state government will bear Rs 15 per plate.
“Such canteens will soon be opened in all the cooperative sugar mills in the state and will provide jobs to the women members of the self-help groups,” he said.
