Landikotal, Pakistan: The customs authorities at Torkham border prevented the entry of 102 trailer trucks carrying 3,774 tonnes of sugar to Afghanistan. The action was taken following the directives of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) in Islamabad.
A customs official on the condition of anonymity told the local media that the ECC has issued orders to not to allow to sugar export to neighbouring countries following the shortage of commodity in the country. which has led to a hike in the prices.
He said, “The trucks had reached to the Torkham border two weeks ago and had paid all the export duties and taxes. They have been sent to the Jamrud customs office waiting for further directions from ECC. All the customs agents have been informed about the sugar export ban.”
