Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh: Cane growers are angry as yet they have not received pending sugarcane dues. Sugarcane department has now come into action for clearing cane arrears. Department on Friday has issued notice to the five sugar mills from the district to clear cane dues within a week. It has threatened to initiate action if the mills fail to act on the order.
According to the reports, the mills owed Rs 477.91 crore to the cane farmers this crushing season and have cleared dues worth Rs 262.39 crore. The mills are yet to clear 215.51 crores to the farmers. Recently, on Farmers Day, DM Dr. Anil Kumar Singh instructed the DCO to expedite the payment, after which notices have been sent to the mills.
