Finding a way out after the energy crisis that hit Ghana in 2015, Komendu Sugar Mill decided to generate 3 megawatts of electricity from the accumulated residue of the sugarcane.
Elaborating about the plans, Srinivasa Rao, site manager of the mill, said that the two-megawatt power will be used for the mill and one megawatt will be channelled to the national grid to benefit residents living around Komenda. This will help the mill to get uninterrupted power supply.
The equipment required to set up generation would be brought in next month and the operations will begin in four months and the project will be completed by December, he said. Rao appealed the government to help the mill to complete the project in time.
