India’s COVID-19 cases surge to 18,985, toll crosses 600
India’s count of positive coronavirus cases reached 18,985 after 1,329 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Tuesday.
Out of the total cases, 15,122 are active cases, 3,259 have been discharged or cured and one has migrated. With 44 new deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the toll stands at 603. As per the evening update by the ministry, Maharashtra continues to be the worst-hit state with 4,669 cases, out of which 572 patients have been discharged and cured and 232 deaths. Delhi’s total count of confirmed cases stand at 2,081, which includes 431 cured or discharged cases and 47 deaths. Gujarat has reported a total of 2,066 positive COVID-19 cases, out of which 131 patients have recovered or discharged, while 77 patients have lost their lives. Madhya Pradesh’s count of COVID-19 cases stand at 1,540, including 127 cured or discharged cases and 76 deaths. Rajasthan has so far reported 1,576 positive cases, out of which 205 patients have recovered or discharged and 25 people have lost their lives.
Tamil Nadu’s COVID-19 figure has risen to 1,520, with 457 patients recovered and 17 fatalities. Uttar Pradesh has reported 1,294 cases, out of which 140 patients have recovered and 20 are dead.
19:29 IST: 117 active COVID-19 cases reported in Kerala
With 19 new COVID-19 cases reported, the total number of active cases has gone up to 117 in the state, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday. Out of the new cases, 10 are from Kannur, four from Palakkad, three from Kasargod, and one case each from Malappuram and Kollam. 12 out of the 19 persons who tested positive for COVID-19 have foreign travel history.
19:23 IST: 1.24 crore corona warriors available in India, says govt
The Centre on Tuesday said that a portal — covidwarriors.gov.in — has been created as a master database of healthcare professionals and volunteers and a total of 1.24 crore corona warriors are available now in the country. “covidwarriors.gov.in has been created as a master database of healthcare professionals and volunteers. Till now, details of 1.24 crore human resources of various kinds have been added to it,” said Arun Kumar Panda, Chairman of the Empowered Group-4, which has been mandated with identification of human resources for various COVID-19 related activities. Panda said that 40,000 Indian Red Cross volunteers are working as corona warriors in 550 districts. “3,500 NCC cadets and 500 NCC staff in 19 states and UTs, and another 47,000 NCC cadets have been enrolled. 1.80 lakh ex-servicemen have been identified and 6,300 are deployed already,” he added.
18:34 IST: 29 new COVID-19 cases reported in West Bengal, total active cases rise to 274
West Bengal Chief Secretary Rajiva Sinha on Tuesday said that 29 new coronavirus cases were reported in the state in the past 24 hours taking the total number of active cases to 274. “29 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the state in the last 24 hours. The total death toll also soared to 15 after three other coronavirus patients died,” Sinha told reporters here. He said that no other patients have been discharged in the last 24 hours.
“New 29 active cases reported from seven districts across the state including, Kolkata, Howrah, Hoogly, Pashchim Bardhaman, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas,” Sinha said.
17:39 IST: 1,294 COVID-19 cases in Uttar Pradesh
The cumulative positive cases of COVID-19 in Uttar Pradesh stand at 1294, said officials on Tuesday. “Till now, there are 1294 positive cases of COVID-19 in the State including 1134 active cases and 140 discharged,” said State Principal Secretary (Medical & Health) Amit Mohan Prasad. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the lockdown situation in the state and directed senior officials to conduct more COVID-19 testing.
17:02 IST: COVID-19: 35 new cases reported in Andhra Pradesh
Thirty-five new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday. Out of the 35 cases, 10 were reported from Kurnool, nine from Guntur, six from Kadapa, four from West Godavari and three each from Anantapur and Krishna. According to the State Command Control Room, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Andhra Pradesh is at 757, including 96 cured and discharged and 22 deaths.

14:36 IST: 78 more COVID-19 cases in Delhi, tally in city reaches 2081
78 more COVID-19 cases have been reported from the national capital, taking the total number of coronavirus cases in the city to 2,081, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said on Tuesday. He said 26 patients are in intensive care units (ICU) while five others are on ventilators. “There are a total of 2,081 positive cases in Delhi, out of these 78 cases were found yesterday. These 78 cases were found out of the 1,397 samples tested yesterday,” Jain told reporters here. He said that the Delhi government is working as per the protocol set by the Central government for dealing with asymptomatic COVID-19 cases.
14:09 IST: Odisha approves projects worth Rs 9,100 Cr to boost economy
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday informed that the state government has cleared a total of six projects worth Rs 9,100 crore in a bid to give a boost to the economy of the state. The Chief Minister also said that the commencement of these projects would create as many as 6,525 jobs across various sectors in Odisha. Taking to Twitter, he said, “Amid the #COVID19 lockdown, #Odisha Govt has cleared six #InvestInOdisha proposals worth Rs9,100 Cr which will generate more than 6,525 jobs. The approved projects spread across steel, cement, chemical, metal & metal downstream, textile & apparel, logistics & infrastructure.”
13:28 IST:10,000 MP students to be brought back home on buses from Kota
Amid the coronavirus lockdown, 150 sanitised and cleaned buses left from Gwalior for Kota this morning to bring back around 10,000 students from Madhya Pradesh who are stranded there.
A three-member team led by Additional Commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Gwalior, Dinesh Shukla is also going to Kota. The Madhya Pradesh students will be identified by the Kota administration and then sent to their homes on the buses. “All these vehicles will come back today with the children. A control room is also being set up by the district administration for arranging to bring the children of Madhya Pradesh from Kota and to take them home. Coordination work will be done through this control room,” MB Ojha, Gwalior Divisional Commissioner said
405 samples test negative for coronavirus in Arunachal Pradesh
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday informed that out of 439 samples collected, the results of 405 people were found to be negative for novel coronavirus.
He further informed media that the results of 34 people are still awaited. Also, out of the total, no person has been found positive for COVID-19.

12:14 IST: 2 coronavirus patients in Punjab on ‘recovery path’
Two Covid-19 patients in Punjab are on the ‘recovery path,’ informed KBS Sidhu, IAS, Special Chief Secretary, Punjab on Tuesday. Taking to Twitter he said, “Ludhiana– 2 Covid-19 patients on recovery path. Their first sample after 14 days of treatment have got NEGATIVE results. Their next samples shall be taken in the next few days, as per the protocol. If these come out negative as well, the patients shall be discharged.” India has reported 1,336 more COVID-19 cases taking the total count in the country to 18,601 in the last 24 hours, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday.
11:10 IST: Three Delhi Police personnel test positive for COVID-19
Three police personnel posted in the Nabi Karim area of the national capital have tested positive for COVID-19. Their test results came yesterday, said Delhi Police. Nabi Karim area is one of the 84 containment zones in Delhi. As per the Union Health Ministry’s latest bulletin, 2,081 people in Delhi have tested positive for COVID-19, including 47 deaths. 431 persons have been cured in the national capital.
10:25 IST: 52 more COVID-19 cases in Rajasthan
52 more COVID-19 cases have been reported in Rajasthan, taking the total cases in the state to 1,628, the state health department said on Tuesday.
Among the new cases, 34 cases were reported in Jaipur, 4 in Bhilwara, 2 each in Dausa, Jaisalmer and Tonk, 1 each in Jhunjhunu, Nagaur and Sawai Madhopur and 5 in Jodhpur. According to the health department, 25 people have died due to COVID-19 while 205 have recovered.
10:15 IST: 7 more COVID-19 cases reported from Nagpur
7 more COVID-19 cases have been reported from Nagpur district, said the district officials on Tuesday.
“With 7 more people confirmed of coronavirus in Nagpur district today, the total number of cases here has reached 88,” said District officials. As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India’s total number of coronavirus cases has spiked to 18,601, of which 14,759 patients are active cases and 3,252 cases have been recovered/ migrated and 590 deaths have been reported till now.
10:10 IST: Punjab: 5 more COVID-19 cases reported from Rajpura town
Five more coronavirus cases have been reported from Rajpura town of Patiala district on Tuesday. KBS Sidhu, Special Chief Secretary, Punjab informed that the infection in these five victims was transmitted by the same source. “Five positive cases from the same source which came positive. All asymptotic. Same line of contact tracing,” he tweeted.
A complete screening of vulnerable localities of Rajpura will start and testing of further contacts will be done today, he added.
09:54 IST: Out of 754 samples, 8 test positive for COVID-19: KGMU Lucknow
Out of the 754 samples tested on Monday for COVID-19, results of eight are positive, said King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow. So far, Uttar Pradesh has reported 1184 COVID-19 positive cases, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
