With 1,823 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the last 24 hours and 67 deaths, India’s total count of coronavirus cases has gone up to 33,610, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday. The total cases are inclusive of 8,372 cured and discharged patients, one migrated, and 1,075 deaths. At present, there are 24,162 active COVID-19 cases in the country.
Addressing a press conference here, Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary, Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry, said that the doubling rate of COVID-19 cases in India has increased to 11 days while comorbidity was found in 78 per cent of the coronavirus deaths.

According to a media bulletin from Tamil Nadu Health and Family Welfare Department, 161 new COVID-19 positive cases including 138 from Chennai reported in Tamil Nadu today; the total number of positive cases in the state is now 2,323. The media bulletin states, “Till now 1,19,748 samples have been taken and sent for testing. COVID-19 testing is done in 34 Government and 11 Private labs all over Tamil Nadu. 2,323 persons have tested positive till date. 1,15,761 samples were tested negative. Testing of 1,664 samples are under process. 9,030 samples are repeat samples.”
19:16 IST: Combating COVID-19: India has provided 2.8 mn HCQ, 1.9 mn paracetamol tablets to other countries, says MEA
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday said that India has provided 2.8 million hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) tablets, an anti-malarial drug, deemed useful in dealing with COVID-19, and 1.9 million paracetamol tablets as part of its assistance to other countries to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
India has also provided HCQ and paracetamol tablets on a commercial basis to 87 countries, said the MEA. “In terms of numbers, we have already provided 2.8 million HCQ tablets as grant assistance to 25 countries. We have also provided paracetamol, about 1.9 million tablets, in another form to 31 countries. In addition, consignments of HCQ and paracetamol are being sent to 87 countries on a commercial basis,” MEA’s official spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said in his opening remarks today.
“These supplies are taking place both as a humanitarian aid as well as on a commercial basis,” he added.

The Union Health Ministry on Thursday said that doubling rate of COVID-19 cases in India has increased to 11 days while comorbidity was found in 78 per cent of the coronavirus deaths. “Comorbidity was found in 78 per cent COVID-19 deaths while doubling rate of the cases has now increased to 11 days,” said Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary, Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry, during a press conference here. He said the States and Union Territories whose doubling rate is between 11 days and 20 days include Delhi (11.3 days), Uttar Pradesh (12 days), Jammu and Kashmir (12.2 days), Odisha (13 days), Rajasthan (17.8 days), Tamil Nadu (19.1 days) and Punjab (19.5 days). The States and Union Territory whose doubling rate is between 20 and 40 days include Karnataka (21.6 days), Ladakh (24.2 days), Haryana (24.4 days), Uttarakhand (30.3 days) and Kerala (37.5 days).
16:15 IST: Chhattisgarh: 2 more COVID-19 patients discharged, total 36 recovered
Two more coronavirus patients were discharged in Raipur on Thursday, taking the total number of discharged patients to 36. With this, the state has only two active COVID-19 cases left. The patients who were discharged today are the residents of Korba district. “Discharged two more patients today, belonging to Korba district, after they completely recovered from COVID19. Presently, there are two active cases including a nursing officer. Both are stable,” according to a statement from AIIMS, Raipur.
15:18 IST:71 new COVID-19 cases in Andhra Pradesh, state tally reaches 1403
Seventy-one new COVID-19 cases were reported in Andhra Pradesh in the last 24 hours taking the state tally to 1,403, according to the state health department’s Thursday morning bulletin.
According to the bulletin, as many as 6,497 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Forty-three new cases were reported in Kurnool district, 10 cases in Krishna, four each in Guntur and Kadapa, three each in Anantapur and Chittoor and two each in East Godavari and Nellore, the bulletin said. No new cases were reported in Prakasam, Srikakulam, Vishakapatnam, Vizianagaram and West Godavari districts. No COVID-19 related deaths were reported in the state either.

Russia on Thursday registered 7,099 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours taking the country’s tally to 106,498. The country’s death toll stands at 1,073, Sputnik reported “Russia’s cumulative total of coronavirus infection cases has reached 106,498 (+7.1 percent) in 85 regions,” Russia’s coronavirus response center said in a statement.

18 more COVID-19 cases have been reported from Haryana today, taking the state’s tally of coronavirus cases to 329, the state Health Department said. Out of the 18 new cases; 3 cases were reported from Gurugram while four cases were reported in Faridabad and the remaining 11 cases came from Jhajjar. The tally is inclusive of 99 patients who are active cases and three patients who have died due to the virus.

12:10 IST: 4 traders associated with Delhi’s Azadpur Sabzi Mandi test positive for COVID-19
Four more traders associated with Delhi’s Azadpur Sabzi Mandi have tested positive for COVID-19, an official said. “They did not commute to and fro from the vegetable market. A total of 15 positive cases in the vegetable market have been reported so far,” an Azadpur Mandi official stated. Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain had earlier said that the Azadpur Mandi was being disinfected and other preventive measures were being taken.

April 30 (ANI): 27 more COVID-19 cases have been reported from Uttar Pradesh, King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow said in a release.
“Out of the 646 samples tested yesterday for COVID-19, results of 27 are positive,” the KGMU added. A total of 33,050 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in India. 8,325 persons have recovered or migrated, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Friday.
