Muzaffarnagar: As many as eight sugar mills in Muzaffarnagar district have made a record purchase of around 900 lakh quintal sugarcane from farmers till May 5 in this season.
R D Dwivedi, District Cane officer said, “Till May 5, the 8 sugar mills have purchased 931 lakh quintal of sugarcane in this crushing season from farmers. The mills are from Tikola, Morna, Khaikhedi, Titawi, Rohana, Budhana, Khatoli and Mansurpur area.”
“The mills still continue cane crushing and will continue the operations till the entire crop in fields is crushed. The state governm has allowed functioning of sugar mills during lockdown to facilitate farmers”, he further added.
