Hoping to increase sugar output, the Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC) has appealed the cane producers to produce the quality sugarcane this season. FSC’s Chief Executive Graham Clark has stated that the farmers should ensure that they send the quality cane to the sugar mills for crushing during this season which starts in July.
“We have addressed the issues related to transportation and the mills will soon start operations. The farmers are requested to bring the clean cane to the mill for crushing. As the saying goes the sugar is made in the fields and not in the factory, the farmers should ensure that they should not bring extracted matter along with the mechanically harvested cane to mills for crushing,” he said.
Fiji aims at maintaining the high standard of sugar that will be produced during this crushing season.
“We are requesting people to grab an opportunity to work with sugar sector to earn livelihood and help us to run the industry,” he said.
