Sugar scam: Chief Minister appears before Sugar Inquiry Commission

The Sugar inquiry commission set up to probe increase in the sugar prices in Pakistan summoned Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Wednesday. He put his say regarding the subsidy of Rs 3 billion given to the sugar mills for exporting sugar in 2019. He, however, refused to talk to media persons after appearing before the committee.

The commission has started summoning all the decision-makers related to the decision that affected the sugar prices in Pakistan.

According to media reports, the inquiry was done at the FIA headquarters which was kept secret from media. Earlier the commission had summoned Federal Minister for Planning, Asad Umar to explain sugar export decision taken by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) which he headed in the capacity of Finance minister in 2018.

From few months sugar controversy in Pakistan is refusing to die down.
