Chandigarh: The cooperative and private sugar mills should clear the cane arrears pending with them for more than two years with interest on it, said Harpal Singh Cheema, leader of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Punjab.
The party has threatened to launch state-wide agitation if the government fails to initiate action in this regard in 10 days.
According to the news report, Cheema said, “During lockdown imposed due to coronavirus pandemic, the farmers were reeling under financial crisis and need funds for sowing and maintenance of their next crop. When farmers need money, the sugar millers are denying paying the payment.”
