The return of rainfall has brought cheers among the sugar sector in Thailand which was affected due to drought last season. The country is one of the biggest exporters of sugar in the world.
Sirivuthi Siamphakdee, vice chairman of the Thai Sugar Millers corp. said, “Some regions have received as much as 20% more rainfall so far this year than a year earlier. Heavy rains earlier this week ended a prolonged dry spell.”
According to the Thai Meteorological Department, More rain is in store for Thailand through August and September with the overall precipitation expected to be more than last year.
