New Delhi: As a step to keep the sugar industry in sound financial health, Niti Aayog task force has recommended linking sugarcane prices to sugar rates.
According to the media report, the report of the panel on ”Sugarcane and Sugar Industry”, headed by Niti Aayog Member (Agriculture) Ramesh Chand, was finalised in March 2020. It was posted on the government think-tank”s website on Thursday.
The task force feels that linking sugarcane prices to sugar prices will prevent the problem of cane arrears and keep the sugar industry in sound financial health.
The task force has also recommended the central government to give incentive to sugarcane farmers to shift to another crops.
