Belgavi: Administration will take strict action against the sugar mills that fail to pay fair and remunerative prices (FRP) to sugarcane farmers, said deputy commissioner Nitesh Patil, reports The Hindu.
All the private, as well as cooperative sugar mills, will have to follow the rules and regulations issued by the government regarding weighing, paying fair wages to labourers and paying cane dues to the farmers, he said.
Speaking at a meeting of farmers and sugar factory officials at the Zilla panchayat hall, he said that the government will take strict action against the mills that are found cheating farmers.
“A deadline will be set for millers to clear the FRP and the millers should follow it,” he further added.
