Sugar mills in Maharashtra are crushing cane at a fast pace and performing well in terms of sugar production. According to the sugar commissionerate, as many as 190 sugar mills have produced 536.89 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 547.09 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 9.81 per cent as of January 9, 2022.
The sugar mills from the Pune region have achieved 10.01 per cent recovery rate. The mills have produced 112.19 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 112.11 lakh tonne sugarcane till January 9, 2022. Total 29 sugar mills are operating in the region.
Sugar mills in the Kolhapur division have produced 145.96 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 130.94 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 11.15 per cent.
