Pune: Ahmednagar division, one of the major sugar producing regions in Maharashtra, has produced 160.96 lakh quintal sugar till April 18, 2021.
The sugarcane crushing season is in the final phase and 146 sugar mills have stopped the crushing operations in the state.
As per the data released by the state sugar commissionerate, till April 18, total of 26 sugar mills had participated in the cane crushing operations in Ahmednagar division. These mills have so far produced 160.96 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 164.45 lakh tonne sugarcane. Total 11 mills have stopped operations and the average recovery rate has been recorded at 9.79%.
